Night\Shift here we come!

Hey PoeTree-ites (I'm still working on what to call us; PoeTreeans?),

Two pieces of news for you! The first is that we are going to be at the Night\Shift Festival in Kitchener, ON. But you already knew that! Now, though, we have an address! We'll be outdoors in the green space beside the parking garage at Ontario St. and Duke St. Here's a map!

The tree will be up from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. so come check it out and, of course, take and/or leave a poem!

In other news, PoeTree Mk. II is designed!

This design is bigger, with double the branches, which means more poetry and more PoeTree. I'm still working out funding plans for it, but when it is built next year it will be a thing of beauty.

Thank you for all of your continued support.

The Impact Festival and more!

Well folks, the Impact Festival in Kitchener-Waterloo is over, and with it another successful planting of The PoeTree. For those that missed it, the tree was up from September 27th to the 30th at the historic Schneider Haus in downtown Kitchener. It was a bit of an experiment for me leaving the tree in the care of others, but it was worth it coming back after three days and seeing what people had left, like this gem:

I've uploaded more photos to the gallery on the home page, and there are certainly more to come once things settle down on the Festival's end.

In other news, designs for PoeTree Mk II are coming along nicely! As I've stated, the plan is that next year I'll put out a tree that last a total of three weeks without any intervention on my part, a tree that can withstand the elements and anything else that might get thrown at it. In truth, this is the part of the process I love the most, the idea-making, the imagining. Here's what I imagine PoeTree Mk. II looking like right now:

The IMPACT Festival features productions from all over the world and it runs until October 1st. The PoeTree, however, will only be up until September 30th (inclusive). As shown above, It will be on the front lawn of the Schneider Haus from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Come out! Take a poem! Leave a poem! And/or both!

The Inaugural Planting and more!

On August 27th, 2017, the PoeTree debuted at Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto. It went up from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and people couldn't help but stop and interact with it. It was such a pleasure reading the poems others left, and remembering the poems that they took with them to commemorate the occasion. Check out the photos here.

It truly was a beautiful day, one that couldn't have happened without the generous support of the following people, named as they are in no particular order:

Chai L., Jack D., Jennifer R., Erin M., Heather D., Sarah D.C., Johnny W., Shirani A., David L., Saewan K., Jeannie L., Seon-Kyoo L., Krista K., Donna D., Eugene L., Michelle G., Craig G., Thompson D., Jenn L., Anne B., Eileen L., Thomas F., Kiki, Sadiki L., Althea M., Cassandra P., The Noble Family, The DeSouza-Coelho Family, Nasho H., Michael H., Salihah F., Ashna F., Robert B., Cassandra L., Jamiel K., Bebe K., Felix C.

Although the inaugural planting was one day, The PoeTree will be finding a second home at the 2017 Impact Festival in Kitchener-Waterloo from September 27 - 30. Check in a bit later in the month for more information!
